What are your candles made from?
All Blum candles are made with 100% soy wax and a natural cotton wick. Soy wax burns cleaner and longer than paraffin, produces less soot, and is biodegradable. We don't use any synthetic additives or fillers.
How long will my candle burn?
Our 9oz home collection candles have a burn time of approximately 50–60 hours. Our 4oz travel tins burn for approximately 25–30 hours, and our 8oz travel tins burn for approximately 40–50 hours. Actual burn time varies depending on how you care for the candle — trimming the wick and burning in shorter sessions makes a big difference.
Are the candles safe to burn indoors?
Yes — our soy wax candles produce significantly less soot than paraffin alternatives, making them a cleaner choice for indoor use. As with any candle, always burn within sight, keep away from children and pets, and place on a heat-resistant surface away from draughts.
Can I reuse the jar or tin after the candle is finished?
Absolutely — and we encourage it. Once your candle is finished, place the jar in the freezer for an hour and the remaining wax will contract and pop right out. Wash with warm soapy water and you have a clean glass vessel perfect for storing small items, holding a plant cutting, or using as a drinking glass.
Candle Care
How do I get the best burn from my candle?
A few simple habits make a big difference: Trim your wick to ¼ inch before every burn — this prevents smoking and extends burn time. On the first burn, let the wax melt all the way to the edge of the jar before extinguishing — this prevents tunnelling and ensures an even burn every time after. Burn for 2–4 hours at a time for the best results, and never burn for more than 4 hours in one session.
Why is my candle tunnelling?
Tunnelling happens when a candle isn't burned long enough on its first use, leaving a ring of unmelted wax around the edges. To fix it, try the foil method — wrap foil around the top of the jar leaving a small opening, and burn for 1–2 hours. This traps heat and melts the wax ring. Going forward, always burn until the melt pool reaches the edges before putting it out.
My candle is producing black smoke — is something wrong?
Black smoke usually means the wick needs trimming. Extinguish the candle, let it cool fully, trim the wick to ¼ inch, and relight. Also check that your candle isn't in a draught — moving air causes uneven burning and can cause the flame to flicker and produce soot.

Do you offer free shipping?
Yes — we offer free shipping on all orders within the United States. International shipping is available to a wide range of countries at checkout.
How long will my order take to arrive?
US orders typically arrive within 5–10 business days. Each candle is made to order, so please allow 2–3 business days for production before shipping. You'll receive a tracking number by email once your order is on its way.
Can I track my order?
Yes — once your order ships you'll receive a confirmation email with a tracking link. If you haven't received it within 5 business days of ordering, check your spam folder or reach out to us via the contact page.
My order arrived damaged — what do I do?
We're sorry to hear that. Please take a photo of the damaged item and packaging and send it to us via the contact page within 7 days of receiving your order. We'll arrange a replacement or refund promptly.

Are your candles good as gifts?
They're one of our most popular use cases. Candles make genuinely thoughtful gifts because they're personal without being too personal, useful without being boring, and feel luxurious without breaking the bank. Do you offer gift wrapping or a gift message?
We don't currently offer gift wrapping, but our candles arrive in clean, minimal packaging that presents beautifully as-is. If you'd like to include a personal message with your order, reach out to us via the contact page after placing your order and we'll do our best to accommodate.

Do you offer refunds or exchanges?
Because our candles are made to order, we don't accept returns for change of mind. However if your order arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, we'll always make it right. Reach out within 7 days of receiving your order and we'll sort it out.
